Alamata Crab

A small early season apple that is remarkable for it's bronze leaves and red blossoms. The flavour is much sharper than the typical desert apple, but better than most crabs. The skin is a deep red-purple colour with pale pink flesh. This apple blooms early, and is an effective polinator for other group 1 apples. Pick the fruit in mid-late August, early September and use in juice or eat fresh for about a week.
